2000 – The Levant

While on vacation in Egypt in December 2000, André and I made a trip to Israel and Jordan. We visited the ancient city of Petra, the Dead Sea and Jerusalem.

Our first stop was the ancient city of Petra. The city was carved out in the mountains about 2000 years ago.

The next stop was the Dead Sea. We stayed at the Mövenpick Hotel at the northernmost part of the Dead Sea.

André and I were in Jerusalem from the 17th to the 18th of December, 2000. We explored the Old City and surrounding areas.

Mount Sinai

2000 – Egypt

In December 2000, André and I spent two weeks in Egypt to get away from the cold Norwegian winter.
Sharm el-Sheikh

We stayed most of the time in Sharm el-Sheikh at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula.

One hour by bus from Sharm el-Sheihk is the hippie town of Dahab.

One night we climbed the Jabal Musa mountain, where Moses alledgedly received the ten commandments. We saw the sun rise from the top before heading down again to the Monstery of Katherine.

2000 – London, UK

During a weekend in September 2000, André and I tried to cover as much as possible of London.
Sightseeing

We visited St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, saw Big Ben and went shopping on Oxford Street.

Sydney

2000 – Sydney, Australia

I stayed two weeks in Sydney just before the opening of the 2000 Summer Olympics.

I had to see some Kengaroos and Koalas while in Sydney. I found them at the Taronga Zoo, on the north shore of Sydney Harbour.

Sydney Aquarium, located in Darling Harbour, features all kinds of creatures from the sea, including sharks.

There are some great beaches very close to the city centre. Bondi Beach is the most famous of these beaches.
