2011 – Valley of Mexico

The Valley of Mexico is a highlands plateau of around 2200 meter in central Mexico. The valley has been inhabited for at least 12,000 years. Mexico City is today one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world.

Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary was based on the principles of reform rather than punishment. When the building was erected in 1829 it was the largest and most expensive public structure ever constructed in the United States. The prison was a big tourist attraction, and bacame a prototype for more than 300 prisons worldwide.

Lancaster was the capital of the United States for one day, September 27, 1777. The Second Continental Congress met here while fleeing the British who had captured Philadelphia.

2011 – Caribbean

I went on a one week cruise onboard the largest cruise ship in the world, the Allure of the Seas, in February, 2011. We sailed the Caribbean, and made stops in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Sint Maarten and the Virgin Islands.

The cruise ship made a stop in Nassau in the Bahamas. The Bahamas is the third richest country in the Americas, after USA and Canada.
